When it comes to start up a blog, everything seems to be messed up a lot. The first challenge about blogging is to find a topic which you would love to blog about. My idea is to blog about the things you love and which you can write forever, but here comes the twist. I love a lot of things so what should I blog about? Will people love that too? You must choose a subject which will never run out of new topics. Here are the things you should avoid in blogging,
Don’t create a news blog
No matter what about you blog, please do not blog about latest news and deals. If you blog about news or any shopping deals. You will have to update your blog multiple times a day. You are a blogger, not a journalist. For different news, or shopping offers, you have to depend on another website or a media. People will not be interested to get small amount of informations from you and they will go to the main source. Having a news based blog may help you to get more traffic but these traffic will not come back again if you don’t have anything good to offer. Your articles will not become timeless and they will not help you to get long term values.
Don’t create a personal blog
Another thing to avoid in professional blogging is to create a personal blog. Lets face it, you are not a celebrity, and people will not become interested to know about you and what you do. You can’t just blog about what you are doing these days, you won the prize, you did this and that, went to office etc. People hates those blogs which are self centered. Write some helpful and interesting article. An article about something practical and which, one can use it on a real situation. You have many experience about many things, just share the experience and lots of people will be benefited.
Please don’t blog about everything
I run my other blog tamalanwar.com and I have the chance to write about any topic I wish because the name doesn’t says what my blog is all about. Most of the people can’t figure out what to blog about and they just start writing about everything from personal life, wedding, movies, gossip, cars, dress to jewelry, pets, games, music and everything they ever think about. There is no limitation and rules, what you can blog about and what you can’t, but if you want to develop a successful blog, you have to write about a specific topic.
Don’t blog about a limited topic
For an example, you can blog about a simple mobile phone like the Nokia N95. You can write about everything about it like casing, battery, usage, tips and tricks, hacks, softwares etc. But how far you can go with it? The day will come when there will be nothing left to blog about it and people will be talking about a new phone. So choosing a limited topic will hurt your long term blogging goals. This blog will become a great example of a specific niche and you will get search traffic but a successful blog has to come with something new regularly.
