Facebook launches a LITE version and it’s the time to bring some more social traffic

Lately facebook has launched their own lite version located at lite.facebook.com ~the whole interface packed into a simple user interface. Over the last year, facebook has become more active and rich in content. They added their chat function which made the network even more attractive. Now they still do care about those users having a low internet connection.

Overview of Facebook Lite

Lite is super fast loading, simpler and clutter free. Now I can focus on the actual content; no pesky comments, likes and chat. By the way, you can add me on facebook.com/tamalanwar

facebook lite Tamal Anwar profile

  • Facebook lite is much more user friendly than the full facebook
  • It has less ads, links and no suggestions and highlights
  • It doesn’t have Ajex and other web elements, so that it loads faster
  • Facebook lite is not an application plaform
  • The search bar only searches people
  • You have to click more links to update, post pics and for other things
  • It’s still in the BETA, so maybe there’s more things coming ahead

Let’s promote with facebook

The very basic facebook promotion method is asking your friends to pay a visit to your website. Now don’t “over do” this because the people who are interested in your website will come to your place automatically. An advanced promotion method is posting links on facebook groups, profiles and pages. You can submit relevant links to relevant places on facebook.

You can also create your own brand’s facebook page and group that will attract some supporters to your site.

Another way to promote through facebook is to post your blog posts as notes. Go to your profile and add your blog RSS feed as your content. Now each time you publish a new post on your blog, it will apprear on your facebook profile as well as your friend’s home page. This is a great way to let your facebook friends read your blog.

So, it kind of reminds me of the Facebook before all of the major upgrades. It certainly does load faster, but it’s a bit hard to find some of my favorite features. Can you get to the pages from there, for example? I probably just need to take a little more time to get to know it, and it is certainly easier when you just want to check your wall and inbox. Thanks for the review!

I actually hadn’t heard of facebook lite until you brought this up. Thanks for the info!

The best way I’ve found to promote on facebook is to get into a discussion somewhere and drop a link relevant to the discussion when necessary. The links are nofollow, though, and traffic definitely dries up over time. I have not had success getting friends on facebook to bother with my work, and I understand – for me, at least – why this is the case. A lot of people are on Facebook in order to avoid the rest of the web.

It is greatly helpful for slower connection users like me and lots of other dial up connections users.

Yeah this has plenty of practical applications including people on slow connections. It is a smart move to offer multiple platforms like this. It ensures that people can use facebook regardless of where they are or how fast their internet connection is. I am a little surprised that they would go as far as reducing the number of ads too. That seems to be a move that would limit their revenue.

If you think like this way.. a lot of people have avoided facebook for their rich interface because their net speed doesn’t supports facebook. Now that there’s a new platform, they can get more visitors + more revenue.

It seems that more and more people are using facebook as a promotional tool. And this is no strange, facebook marked 300 million members this month… I have just subscribed to your blog’s RSS, keep up the good work…
